In today’s lesson, we’re going to draw a cute popsicle that anyone could recreate in only 4 minutes! So, let’s get started.
What You’ll Need to Draw a Cute Popsicle
I’m not going to gatekeep drawing so you are absolutely welcome to just use what you have to draw with me <3. That includes:
But I will be drawing it digitally on my tablet using the most affordable software I know, Clip Studio Paint.
I got it because I loved that you get access to a continuously-updated vault of free natural brushes and other materials made by pros to speed up & elevate your drawing process, perfect for beginners.
And you get all of that for a lifetime just by paying once (gasp)! Trust me, those monthly membership fees add up and I want you to be happily creating cute art without breaking the bank💵🚫.
But anyways, choose your non-lethal drawing weapon and let’s get started!
How to Draw a Cute Popsicle Step-by-Step
1. Draw the Ice Lolly
So first, draw a curved line on the left side of your page using a brown pen.
Gasp! You’re in desperate need of live laugh loving more drawings so why not give these tutorials a shot?
Then, drag your pen down to create the vertical line for the side of the popsicle.
So next, draw a curved line down from the top on the right side so we can manifest our popsicle any second now.
Then, surprise surprise, we have another vertical line to now make the right side of our popsicle.
So next, swoop that line to the left (to the left🎶) at the bottom.
Oh look, it’s your own meet-cute in the form of drawing tutorials :O Maybe one of these could be ☀️the one☀️ for you🧚✨
Then, to Ms. Yonce’s disappointment, let’s swoop the line to the right this time to enclose your popsicle.
How to Draw a Strawberry Popsicle Cat
So now, let’s draw the popsicle stick, starting with a line extending from the bottom of the popsicle.
Then, draw the other side of the popsicle stick with a parallel line. We’re really taking one step at a time to heart with this one👩🎨✨
But if you need more fun but super cute desserts to draw, this blog is your oyster. So try any of these tutorials below <3.
Then, connect the popsicle stick with a curved line. All that manifesting came in handy because now we have our popsicle outline (yay!).
Then, we need those characteristic baguette shapes in our popsicle so start with the left one.
Then, make the right one!
But oh no, someone took a bite while we weren’t looking so draw a curved line at the top for the 1st tooth mark.
Then, add a smaller curve for the 2nd tooth mark.
Then, just to make it look real, draw 2 more curves parallel to the ones you made so it shows the inside of the popsicle.
So now, we need a little design because ✨our popsicle isn’t like other girls✨. So, draw a ‘n’ curve at the bottom of the ice lolly.
Draw another one 🧍♀️
Then, draw the last one!
So now, draw a loop where the 2 left curves meet to form our strawberry leaf design 🍓☀️
Then, as all cute things do, this popsicle needs a face so draw 2 caterpillar-shaped eyes.
For his mouth, draw this small rectangle.
Then, draw another below it to make a funny mouth.
So now, we need cat ears. Don’t fight it, just let the cat ears happen with a short ‘^’ shape.
Draw another bordering ‘^’ & repeat that on the right to get 2 cat ears 🐈⬛
Then, draw a scalloped edge for the inner ‘^’ to make a strawberry inside each ear for extra cutie patootie vibes.
Yay, congrats on making it through the sketch & let’s get coloring!
How to Color Strawberry Popsicle Cat Drawing
1. Flat Colors
So first, color the popsicle pink.
Then, color the popsicle stick beige.
But also, color the leaf part green to really drive it home that this is a strawberry popsicle.
Then, color the strawberry fruits & his lips red.
I pulled your tarot cards while you were drawing & turns out these are your fate hehe 🎀✨
Then, draw pale pink dots on the strawberries & pink part of the popsicle.
2. Obscured in Shadows
So next, in a new layer, change the blending mode to Multiply. Then, take your pink color & fill the bitten marks & baguettes pink to create a shadow🎀
So now, in a big swooping motion, airbrush a pink shadow across the bottom right of your ice lolly. Even popsicles deserve a bit of contour.
But our baguettes are unsatisfied with their contour so in a new Multiply layer (so the new shadow layers on top the old shading), airbrush the top left of each baguette.
Then, draw a dark pink line along one side of each ear & a beige line across the top of the popsicle stick in a Multiply layer.
So after that, draw some small beige lines vertically along the stick to make sure everyone knows it’s wood.
Then, because I can’t stop won’t stop with the shadows, lightly airbrush a beige swooping line on the bottom right of the stick.
So oop, that was actually the last shadow. Now, let’s get to highlights!
3. Glow Like a Diamond (Add Highlights)
So, airbrush white or pale pink on the side opposite of the shadow in the wells.
Then, draw some white lines where you see below to make the popsicle look extra glossy!
Yay for making it to the end!
