What You’ll Need for Drawing Ice Cream Scoops
Iām not going to gatekeep drawing so you are absolutely welcome to just use what you have to draw with me <3. That includes:
But I will be drawing it digitally on my tablet using the most affordable software I know, Clip Studio Paint.
I got it because I loved that you get access to a continuously-updated vault of free natural brushes and other materials made by pros to speed up & elevate your drawing process, perfect for beginners.
And you get all of that for a lifetime just by paying once (gasp)! Trust me, those monthly membership fees add up and I want you to be happily creating cute art without breaking the bankšµš«.
But anyways, choose your non-lethal drawing weapon and letās get started!
Drawing Ice Cream Scoops Step-by-Step
1. Draw the Waffle Cone
So first, draw a brown line across the middle of your page using a brown pen. That’s our 1st step to get the waffle cone drawing we deserve.
Then, draw a line parallel to the 1st. Our ice cream cone is looking bleak right now but just trust the process xoxo.
Then, enclose it into a rectangle with a small curve on each side.

So next, make another rectangle with curved sides because this waffle cone isn’t in its skinny era.

Then, draw a line swooping down on the left side of your cone.
And enclose it like so:

2. Draw the Ice Cream Scoops
So now, draw a line to start making a dome-shape on top the cone.
Then, commit to finishing it on the right side. It’s a model scoop, not a bit out of placeāØš
So now, start making a new dome for the next scoop.
Then, complete the dome. It’s almost like the Gigi & Bella of ice cream scoops at this pointš
3. Add Cute Faces!
So next, we need to douse this drawing in cuteness so draw a ‘n’ shape for the 1st cat ear.
Then a very predictable plot twist! Repeat it on the other side.
So now, the bottom scoop is feeling left out so add cat ears there too.
So next, add another ‘n’ curve inside one ear.
Then, draw 3 small ‘c’ curves on the open bottom of the ‘n’ to make a strawberry!
Then, repeat that strawberry shape for each ear.
Gasp! The top scoop is shocked for reasons only the universe can explain.
But the bottom scoop is sad because I’m sure having a hefty top scoop on your back isn’t fun.
So now, draw 2 small half baguettes per scoop to make arms!
4. Make It Melt
So, let’s start making it melt with one icicle at a time.
Then, keep it going with a wavy line until you get something like this. Don’t be afraid to sacrifice some of your cone in the name of meltingāļøāØ
After you erase your forgotten cone, this is what it should look like:
So now, let’s melt the top scoop with another wavy line!
And also on the right side with a wavy ‘v’.

So now, we’ve sacrificed some of the bottom scoop to support the top scoop’s melting prowess. In simple terms, just erase the overlapping part.
5. Add the Cone Details
So now, we’re going to make this super easy. Draw some stripes in the cone.
Then, draw some diagonal lines from the opposite side so we have a rough diamond pattern.
Then, let’s add a strawberry for funsies by drawing a ‘n’ curve next to the waffle cone.

Then, draw this strawberry top with a looped edge for the leaves.
How to Color Strawberry Ice Cream Drawing
1. Add Flat Colors
Color the waffle cone first.
Then, color the ice cream scoops pink since it’s strawberry flavored.
So now, color the leaves green.
Then, color the fruits & the top scoop’s mouth red.
So next, dot some small pale pink or white seeds on the strawberries.
Then, super easy step: color the top scoop’s eyes brown.
And yay, that’s it for flat colors so let’s start shading.
2. Shading on the Coneš¶āš«ļø
In a new raster layer, change your blending mode to Multiply. Then, airbrush a wavy brown line under your bottom scoop.
In the same layer, add a shadow on the bottom right of the cone.
So next, draw some ovals in that Multiply layer too to give the cone its much deserved texture.
3. Glossy Glowing Highlights for the ConeāØš§
And now, let’s keep giving the cone its makeover, starting with white lines beside each diagonal line on the cone in a Normal blending mode.
Then, in a new layer airbrush some white ‘!’ and lower the opacity.
4. Ice Cream Shading & Highlights
And that’s it for the cone so let’s give the ice cream some more TLC by airbrushing a pink shadow in a Multiply layer.
Then, in a new Multiply layer, shade along the drips of each scoop to make it pop even more. But that wasn’t enough for me.
This ice cream demands elite contour so now, in another Multiply layer, take your pen and trace a pink shadow along the drips & arms of each ice cream.
Then, draw a red curved line on each strawberry to give them their contour moment.
Finally, for highlights, in a Screen layer, airbrush more ovals and ‘!’ around the ice cream tops. Then, add white lines along the dripping edge of each ice cream.
Then that’s it!
