What You’ll Need to Draw a Cake Slice

I’m not going to gatekeep drawing so you are absolutely welcome to just use what you have to draw with me <3. That includes:

But I will be drawing it digitally on my tablet using the most affordable software I know, Clip Studio Paint.

How to Draw a Cake Slice Step-by-Step

1. Draw the Cake Slice Outline

So first, we’re gonna take it super easy & just draw 1 slanted line with a brown pen.

Then, draw a long horizontal line like this.

Next, draw a line down from there but curve it a bit inwards. Don’t worry, we’ll get you the cutest piece of cake you’re craving soon.

Then, simply connect the bottom with a horizontal line.

So now, draw a line curving out from the far left corner of the rectangle.

So next, draw a line forming a triangle above the rectangle.

2. Draw the Whipped Cream

Now that we have our basic outline, let’s start giving it some delicioso elements, starting with cream. So, draw some cloud-like curves.

Keep going 🧚✨

Then, draw another cloud on the other side of the triangle.

3. Draw a Strawberry Topping

And oop, suddenly we have a dome shape which is the star of the show, a strawberry.

So next, draw 2 mini mountains for each ear of the strawberry. Don’t judge, this is my creative vision ok? Cat strawberries.

Then, draw an inner ‘v’ shape for each ear and a small cloud in between them.

So now, erase any overlapping lines to clean up & also, draw some small pill shapes for his eyebrows and eyes.

Then, draw a teardrop with a ‘w’ bottom for the middle of the strawberry.

Conveniently, it looks like the strawberry’s mouth too. Some may say it was planned.

4. Draw the Cake Layers

So now, draw a wavy line a bit in from the top left corner of the rectangle.

Then, draw another one a gap below the 1st.

So, keep going across the bottom of the cake.

But once we get to the top horizontal line of the rectangle, add some ‘u’ curves where the cake icing is dripping.

Then, finish it off like so:

But carry the icing across to the triangle on the right side too with another wavy line.

Then, draw a wavy line inside the rectangle.

End it off like so:

Then, make another wavy line a wide gap away.

And those are your layers! So now, let’s add some strawberries by first drawing a ‘c’-like curve.

Then, enclose it like this:

And we can’t have normal strawberries here. That’d be unjust so draw cat ears here too.

Then, draw a whole line of strawberry cats.

So now, draw that same misshaped teardrop in the middle of each strawberry and 3 lines close together for the yes of strawberry 1.

Then, a side-eye moment for the 2nd strawberry.

Then, 2 pill shapes for the 3rd strawberry’s eyes.

Then, 2 ‘u’ shapes for the last strawberry’s eyes.

5. Add Some Texture

So now, draw a ‘w’ or a ‘u’ in the clouds to give them a bit of texture.

Then, in the icing, draw some wavy lines.

Yay, that’s it for the cake drawing sketch! So, let’s color it now.

How to Color a Strawberry Cake Slice Drawing

So first, color the cake beige.

Then, open a multiply layer in CSP and using the same beige colored pen, draw some ovals in bundles of 2-4.

Then, in a new layer, draw some pink squiggles in the icing with a large pen and lower the layer opacity until you’re happy with it.

So next, color the strawberries red. Truly the plot twist of the century there.

Then, color the middle of each strawberry pink.

And, add this spiked pale pink circle around the teardrop in the middle of each strawberry.

So now, in a multiply layer, airbrush pink on the right side of each cloud and the right of the icing and cake too.

Finally, don’t be too shook but I colored all of the line art pink because everything’s better in pink.

To do so, merge all of your line layers and lock the transparent pixels. Then, take a huge pink airbrush and run it over the whole drawing.

Then that’s it!
