Welcome to Mr. Bon’s 12 days of Christmas drawing tutorials! It’s day 1 of the series: How to draw a cute Christmas tree, simple, easy, step-by-step & perfect for kids.

What You’ll Need
I’m making a digital drawing so if you want to twin with me, then you’ll need the following:
- Microsoft Surface Pro
- Clip Studio Paint Drawing software
- However, an optional alternative: traditional pen, crayons, & paper
How to Draw a Cute Christmas Tree Step-by-Step
Step 1: Draw the Base of the Tree
So start by drawing the bottom leaves of the tree. Although these are only a swoop, they will look cute in the end.
Afterwards, draw 2 vertical lines below the leaves that represent the tree trunk.

Step 2: Draw the Central Body of the Tree
Then, draw the central leaves as 2 curves.
Tip: Notice that the leaves aren’t sharp as it’s a cute-style drawing! Therefore, keep it simple and cute, y’all.

Step 3: Draw the Tip of the Tree & its Leaves
So next, draw the top of the tree as a soft triangle and add some “m” curves in the middle. It’s like the tree’s abs.

Step 4: Draw the Christmas Tree Decorations
So now, draw 4 circles spread out across the tree as the baubles.
Then, add a star at the top, a rectangle with a “Y”-shaped bow as the gift under the tree, and some yellow wiggly lines for the strung lights.

Step 5: Draw the Cat’s Body Kicking the Xmas Star
So now, it’s time for our fun story-telling element, perfect for a Christmas card!
Draw the body of the cat. Strawbaby Cat is kicking the star with a pointed foot. You can imagine a rectangle for his body with 1 nub-like leg at each corner.

Step 6: Draw the Cat’s Head
Furthermore, break it down into simple shapes: The face is a circle, the ears are triangles, and the strawberries are a combination.

Step 7: Draw the Expressions & Finishing Touches
So all that’s left is the facial expressions and the impact star where the the cat is kicking the Christmas star. The star reacts by spitting out water from the impact.

Step 8: Add the Flat Colors to the Christmas Tree
You’ve already made it 90% of the way! Use the fill tool to add color to each part of your Christmas tree drawing.

Step 9: Add the Shadows to the Xmas Tree Drawing
Color in some shadows in a new layer above your flat color layer in Clip Studio Paint.
However, remember: Curved objects have curved shadows from the way the light reflects on their round surface 🙂

Step 10: Finish with Highlights!
Finally, color in some white shadows to really make the Christmas tree drawing pop!
