Never Fail to Draw a Red Tomato Again

In my mind, it’s veggie season (don’t come for me, I know tomatoes are fruits but they’ll always be veggies in my heart). That means we need to draw a red tomato easy right now.

What You’ll Need to Draw a Red Tomato

I’m not going to gatekeep drawing so you are absolutely welcome to just use what you have to draw with me <3. That includes:

How to Draw a Red Tomato Step-by-Step

1. Draw a Circle Base

So first, draw a literal circle using a brown pen. This is the start of our cutie patootie tomato✨

2. Draw the Tomato Leaves

So now, draw an ‘n’ shape on top of the circle. Do you hear that? It’s the sound of your tomato drawing outline coming together🌷

So next, draw an almond shape for the 1st leaf angled up to the left 🎀

Then, take my virtual hand and let’s go through this next leaf together. So first, draw a curve down like this:

Then – oop, turns out I drew the entire leaf cluster without you. While that’s rude, it’s a simple step where you draw a star shape with almond leaves so I hope you’ll forgive me xoxo.

So now, erase the disrespectful lines cutting through your leaves. But also, draw a smaller circle inside your tomato for a special guest appearance 🐇🎀

So now, our guest is popping up first with his caterpillar-shaped eyes👁️

So then, draw a grumpy frown face and two whiskers on each cheek. He’s angrily plotting how to fight you if the drawing doesn’t look good at the end (just kidding, hehe) 🎀

And yay! That’s it for the sketch so let’s get coloring🌷

How to Color the Tomato Drawing with Face

So first, color the flesh of the fruit light red.

But also, color the leaves green as well.

Then, color match his eyes to also be green. This is basic Strawbaby Cat lore. He deserves his leafy eyes even as a tomato ✨

Then, color his face pale yellow!

So then, airbrush a yellow shadow under his chin so he can glare at you imposingly. He might fail as a security guard, though🐇🎀

Then, airbrush a red shadow along the bottom right of the tomato so it just has that extra pizzazz✨

But also, under the leaves because they deserve their shadow moment too.

So now, shade green inside the center of each leaf and stem to give it a little depth and element of “slay”.

Then, airbrush light green across the top left of the leaves so they can glow just like Edward Cullen.

So then, airbrush another highlight across the left side of the tomato fruit.

But also, add two white airbrushed ovals. If you thought the highlights were over, you were truly wrong. It’s not over until your retinas hurt from the blinding glisten✨
