What You’ll Need to Draw a Bread Loaf
I’m not going to gatekeep drawing so you are absolutely welcome to just use what you have to draw with me <3. That includes:
But I will be drawing it digitally on my tablet using the most affordable software I know, Clip Studio Paint.
I got it because I loved that you get access to a continuously-updated vault of free natural brushes and other materials made by pros to speed up & elevate your drawing process, perfect for beginners.
And you get all of that for a lifetime just by paying once (gasp)! Trust me, those monthly membership fees add up and I want you to be happily creating cute art without breaking the bank💵🚫.
But anyways, choose your non-lethal drawing weapon and let’s get started!
How to Draw a Bread Loaf Step-by-Step
1. Draw a Bread Slice
So first, draw a widened ‘c’ curve using a brown pen. This is the start of the bread crust✨
So now, draw an almost ‘[‘ shape right under the first curve. We’re starting to form the bread🌷

So, this is a cat loaf drawing which means he’s gonna need a little foot! Although he’s made of bread, he has places to go and other bread people to see🎀
How to Draw a Bread Loaf
Then, we need to keep forming the bread shape so draw a short horizontal line next to his foot.
But also, draw another foot to aid him in his future journey!
So now, continue the curve of his right foot upwards so it looks similar to the left side. This is basically the shape of a bread slice with feet🐇🎀
So this may be an unexpected move but just trust the process.

So then, keep going towards the left but leave a gap between the line you’ve already drawn and the one you’re currently drawing.
Then, keep continuing this line down like a border.
So, continue the border along until the right vertical curve where you’ll close it.
2. Draw the Loaf
Then, let’s start forming the loaf. So from his right foot, draw a line gently curving up at the end.
Then, continue that curve up to around the same height as his sides.
So then, draw another curved line at the top of your page where we had the awkward gap earlier.
She’s shed her awkward vibes and is in the process of “slay”🐇🎀
Then, complete the outline of the loaf with a final curve. But make sure to draw it a little inwards from the edge of each bordering line so it just has that extra pizzazz✨
But loaves aren’t smooth. So add the divisions from each line intersection of the top curved lines.
You’re forming a bread shape on one side but not fully connecting them so it looks more realistic.
3. Draw the Cat Features
So now, let’s give him ears so he can hear us talking smack about his little legs. You can draw these as two soft mountain shapes at the top of his head.

Then, draw his eye like you see below.
So then, draw his other eye a short distance away. It is a unique eye but it’s all a part of Strawbaby Cat lore so if you don’t like it, you’re welcome to add another facial expression!

Then, draw a frown in the center of his face. He’s angry that he has no arms. It’s truly so rude.
But also, add two whiskers on either side since this is a cat loaf drawing✨
But we can’t leave our cat unable to throw hands. So draw two little paws on the sides of his body…or the bread slice.
And yay! That’s it for the sketch so let’s get coloring🌷
How to Color the Loaf Line Drawing
1. Color the Bread Loaf Beige & Burnt Orange
First, color the loaf and the outer border of the bread slice a burnt orange color.
Then, color the bread slice beige 🐇🎀
So now, let’s color the his eyes green! Strawbaby Cat has strawberry leaves for eyes so even as a bread loaf, he needs his signature slay.
2. Add Slay Shadows
Then, it’s time for some shadows so he can give us “toasted” vibes. Shade the first burnt orange division and along the bottom right of the beige part as well.
Then, carry the shadows backwards lightly but emphasize it along the crack.

MR. BON TIP 🐇: Remember that if you’re using a ‘Multiply’ layer, you can use the same shade you originally colored with.
Then, repeat that at each crack. The last section of the loaf should have the darkest shading since it’s furthest away from us and more hidden in the shadows.
So now, shade along the bottom side of his hands and the right of his ears.
3. Add Texture
Then, he needs to serve us texture✨ So, draw either two or three ovals in clusters of different sizes.
You can sample the beige color with an eyedropper tool. Then, color the ovals in beige but in a ;multiply layer so they appear darker.

4. Airbrush Highlights in a ‘Screen’ Layer
Now, it’s time for a little shine. It’s his Edward Cullen moment. So in a Screen layer, airbrush the beige color along the tops of each loaf section.
Then, do the same for the sides of the loaf.
