What You’ll Need: How to Draw a Halloween Witch
I’m not going to gatekeep drawing so you are absolutely welcome to just use what you have to draw with me <3. That includes:
But I will be drawing it digitally on my tablet using the most affordable software I know, Clip Studio Paint.
I got it because I loved that you get access to a continuously-updated vault of free natural brushes and other materials made by pros to speed up & elevate your drawing process, perfect for beginners.
And you get all of that for a lifetime just by paying once (gasp)! Trust me, those monthly membership fees add up and I want you to be happily creating cute art without breaking the bank💵🚫.
But anyways, choose your non-lethal drawing weapon and let’s get started!
How to Draw a Cute Witch Step by Step
First, draw this jagged line to create the tip of the witch hat and the left curve of its brim.
Then, mirror that on the right side with a mini bump because she’s ✨not like other girls. ✨
So now, draw a long line dividing the ‘c’ on each side of the hat from the triangle on top.
Here’s the start of our witch girl’s hair! It’s just a semi-circle with some loops in the bottom.
But now, we need a face so draw a ‘c’ curve for each ear and draw a curve with a short line down for her neck.
Then, give her a little edge by drawing a jagged hairline!
Because she’s meant to be an academic weapon, draw 2 circles and a short curved line in between them for her glasses.
Then, fill 2 small circles for her eyes and a “^” mouth. We’re playing this on easy mode.
So now, in a big step, draw her body (special trick – use the symmetrical ruler to draw one side & get a 2 for 1 deal).
The shapes are super simple so it’s less confusing if I just let you eyeball it.
Here’s our ghost for extra spooky cute vibes so draw another semicircle with a wiggly line on bottom in between her hands.
Onto coloring, fill her skin brown!
Then, use this dark blue for her hat and dress and a grey-purple for the ghost.
Because it’s my world and y’all just here, I took the liberty of making her hair, socks, and underskirt pink!
Add a darker pink under the hat and her skirt (I changed my mind on the underskirt oop)
Next up, shadows! 😶🌫️ Open a multiply layer above your coloring layers in CSP and draw darker pink lines on her hair, hat, and shoes.
Then, add some brown shadows on her jaw and legs!
Not even our ghost bestie is safe from a shadow so add purple-grey shadows under each hand.
And because our witch girl deserves to glow, draw white lines on her hair in a fully opaque layer and along the left side of her in a more transparent layer.
And yay, that’s all but we also have this witch cat as a bonus tutorial that I made eons ago

How to Draw Cat with Witch Hat
So first, draw the curve of the cat’s head in pencil. Then, add two angled curves for the cat ears.
So now, draw a squiggly line on the left to form his forehead and chubby cheek. Then draw a curve on the other side since he’s looking to the left.
But also add the face details as two dots for eyebrows, pill shapes for eyes, two lines for whiskers, and the mouth shape. Note that the face is angled so he’s looking to the left.
So now, draw two larger curves to form the body.
Draw Witch
Then finally, connect the curve at the bottom. Add the feet, arms, and tail like you see below too:
So now, draw the brim of the witch Hat like a wide curve. Draw it in pencil or on a sketch layer in CSP.
Then add a cone-like shape to the center of the hat that curves towards the top.
So now add the tip of the hat falling down a bit. Then add dashes to the bottom of the cone to give it more definition.
How to Color a Halloween Witch Step by Step
So first, select the airbrush on CSP and color the whole cat gray. Then airbrush small pink triangles for the ears and lightly colored circles for the blush.
Then I took a dark grey and shaded along the right and bottom sides of the cat as well as below the arms.
After that, I lightly shaded the cat’s neck and along the left curve of his belly. Then I highlighted the tops of his feet and arms as well as his left side with a light grey color.
Color the hat and circle (the base of the witch orb) a flat light purple.
Then shade the rim, tip, and left-side of the cone of the hat with a darker purple. I did this by creating a new multiply layer and using the same flat purple along with the airbrush tool.
Witch Draw
So next, shade the outside of the circle to start to give it a 3D feel.
Then, blend the outside edge of the line art so it’s more cohesive. So after that, create a screen layer and airbrush with the same purple color the right side of the hat and orb.
This will show up as a highlight if you use a screen layer.
So next, in a new layer, add a white line on the right as an extra highlight. Draw diamonds of variable sizes also with a white pen.
But also using a purple pen, draw squiggly lines around the orb for extra witchy vibes.
Finally, in a new layer (below the diamond and squiggle line layer), airbrush purple around the orb to help convey an emanating orb in witchy action.
And that’s it! But every class comes with a bit of homework.
