What You’ll Need to Draw a Corn Cob
I’m not going to gatekeep drawing so you are absolutely welcome to just use what you have to draw with me <3. That includes:
But I will be drawing it digitally on my tablet using the most affordable software I know, Clip Studio Paint.
I got it because I loved that you get access to a continuously-updated vault of free natural brushes and other materials made by pros to speed up & elevate your drawing process, perfect for beginners.
And you get all of that for a lifetime just by paying once (gasp)! Trust me, those monthly membership fees add up and I want you to be happily creating cute art without breaking the bank💵🚫.
But anyways, choose your non-lethal drawing weapon and let’s get started!
How to Draw a Corn Cob Step-by-Step
1. Draw a Corn Stalk
So first, draw a horizontal square bracket, ‘[‘ using a brown pen, for the corn cob base. We’re getting our corn cob drawn from the bottom up ✨
So now, draw a soft “L” curve on the left side of the horizontal square bracket🌷

So next, draw a curve gently sloping down at the top of your “L” and erase 2 points at the bottom of the slope so it becomes a broken line 🎀

Then, draw a flap for the corn husk.
But also, continue the line down to extend the flap of the corn husk. We’re making husk-y moves, girlies et al 🐇🌷
So now, draw a curve arching up to the right from the base of the husk to form a “v” with the left flap of the corn husk 🎀
So next, draw a curve to start making the right flap of the corn husk. Woo woo, it’s coming together 🌽
Gasp, what’s this? More tutorials you’d absolutely lose it for? My my, must be fate👐

So then, keep going down…
Then, complete it at the base so we have two chonkster corn husk leaves.
So now, draw a huge curve arching up from the left leaf. We’re on our way to corn kernel slay, one curve at a time ✨
Then, oh my, I tricked you :O. This is actually the back part of the husk hehe🌷
Then, mirror that on the right side for the other husk leaf.
2. Draw the Corn Cob
So then, no trickery this time! It’s kernel time (yay) so draw some small “c” curves to form a scalloped edge of corn kernels 🐇🎀
Then, keep going around in a “n” shape with curves of varying sizes. Not all kernels are created equally ✨
Then, finish it when you reach the right husk.
3. Draw the Facial Features
So now, draw 2 caterpillar shapes as Strawbaby Cat’s eyes. Even as a corn kernel, he won’t be robbed of his signature slay 🐇🎀

Then, draw a frown in the center and two whiskers on each cheek. He’s grumpy because he thinks you’re gonna eat him now that he’s a cob of corn.
So then, draw some “c” curves in singles, or bundles of 2 or 3. This isn’t super realistic but it’s a cutie corn so realism was thrown to the wind xoxo 💕

But also, draw some curved lines along the husk to add to its patootie vibes.
But we can’t leave the other side without an ounce of slay so repeat that on the right husk.
And yay! That’s it for the sketch so let’s get coloring🌷
How to Color the Corn Flower Drawing
1. Color the Kernels Yellow & Husk Green
First, color the corn light yellow. Because he needs to pop but we don’t want people to go blind with eye contact with our cutie cob 🐇🎀.
Then, color the husk light green.
But also, color his eyes a matching green
2. Add Slay Shadows in a Multiply Layer
Then, it’s time for some shadows because even corn cobs deserve their moment. So, shade the center of the right husk.
Then, repeat that with the leaves at the back. Our chonky corn kernels are doing their duty and casting a shadow behind them.

MR. BON TIP 🐇: Remember that if you’re using a ‘Multiply’ layer, you can use the same shade you originally colored with.
Then, repeat that on the left husk leaves!
So now, shade along the bottom side of the base of the husk. No part of the husk will be left behind!
Then, in a new multiply layer, shade a vertical curved line where the 2 flaps meet✨

But also, airbrush a large yellow shadow over the right bottom side of the corn with a scalloped edge to reflect the kernels. A straight-lined shadow would be too harsh & take away from our corn cob 🎀slay🎀
Then, in a new multiply layer, draw along each of the kernels to give them some pizzazz-y shadow depth ✨
3. Airbrush Highlights in a ‘Screen’ Layer
Now, it’s time for a little shine. It’s his Edward Cullen moment. So in a Screen layer, airbrush the yellow color along the top left of the corn cob.

Then, repeat that on the tops and left side of the husk behind the cob. Because we’re the Oprah of highlights 🐇🌷
But finally, airbrush highlights along the inner flaps of the husk for their own dose of Fenty glow 🌽✨
Then that’s it. If you made it this far, congratulations! Strawbaby cat needed a partner for his corn cob drawing journey and we’re honored to have you as a part of it <3.
