What You’ll Need to Draw a Cartoon Croissant
I’m not going to gatekeep drawing so you are absolutely welcome to just use what you have to draw with me <3. That includes:
But I will be drawing it digitally on my tablet using the most affordable software I know, Clip Studio Paint.
I got it because I loved that you get access to a continuously-updated vault of free natural brushes and other materials made by pros to speed up & elevate your drawing process, perfect for beginners.
And you get all of that for a lifetime just by paying once (gasp)! Trust me, those monthly membership fees add up and I want you to be happily creating cute art without breaking the bank💵🚫.
But anyways, choose your non-lethal drawing weapon and let’s get started!
How to Draw a Cartoon Croissant Step-by-Step
1. Draw the Croissant Outline
So first, draw a small brown oval at the bottom left of your page.
So now, draw an incomplete circle above that first oval. We’re building a 🎀quoissant🎀

Then, take a big leap and draw a humongous oval! The right side should be somewhat flat but overall, we’re serving the bakery customers ✨”thick” (croissants)✨.

Then we’re drawing the biggest oval we will for this drawing.
So now, draw a skinny oval. We want her skinny because this croissant is angled so we want to show that perspective in how teeny tiny this oval is.
So next, draw another half oval but much smaller than the last.
There’s some symmetry in the height of each oval so match the left and right sides somewhat. For example, oval 2 has ~the same height as oval 6.

Then, draw one last curve and your croissant outline is done!
2. Draw the Cat Features
So next, draw another curve above the crack of the 3rd and 4th oval. This is a cat ear so if you’re not down with the cat vibes, skip to the coloring steps!🐇🎀
Then, mirror that on the other side✨
Now, he needs a face so your hypothetical bakery customers will get on their Instagram grind📸📸. So draw…well however you’d describe this shape for each eye.
But now, draw 2 whiskers on each cheek and a ‘^’ shape for his mouth. It shows he’s displeased and that makes your croissant extra cute!
Then, draw one curve inside each cat ear. I only half completed the left curve for some variation.
So then, let’s add some defining lines! When you bake your pastry, it’s not going to be completely smooth so we have to show that here, girlies et al🐇🎀
Start at the bottom left.
So next, keep adding more defining lines! The line grind won’t stop until I say it does😤…or until you want to, that’s your freedom of choice✨
More lines!!!
Notice that I drew each defining line at the left side of each oval since that’s where I’ve chosen to add creases in the dough. But once you’re done, let’s start coloring!
Here’s a reward for making it this far🏅
How to Color the Croissant Drawing Sketch
1. Color the Croissant
So now, color the pastry a burnt orange/yellow. We want her ✨toasty golden✨

Then, color the eyes an olive green color. If you’re confused about why his eyes are drawn like that, it’s because it speaks to me you haven’t unlocked Strawbaby Cat lore.
2. Add Slay Shadows
So then, open a new Multiply layer for some super slay shadows! Use the same base color to airbrush the left and inner parts of the cat’s ear.

Then, repeat that on the right ear because we’re serving toasty symmetry✨
But we can’t leave our cat croissant in its uggo (untoasted) state. So airbrush along the top left bumps of the croissant rolls.
So then, airbrush along the bottom bumps on the left side as well.
Then, we’re in for a big step, girlies et al🐇🎀
So, shade along the creases and heavily along the underside of the croissant. I’ll stand here as a comforting virtual presence while you do that 🧍♀️
So now, it’s time to add a shadow along the other creases. Start with the 3rd oval’s creases.
3. Airbrush Highlights in a ‘Screen’ Layer
Then, it’s Fenty glow time✨ So, airbrush along the right side of each cat ear.
MR. BON TIP 🐇: Remember that if you’re using a ‘Screen’ layer, you can use the same shade you originally colored with.
But also, airbrush along his forehead. He’s sparkling (in a non-Edward Cullen way).

Then, carry that highlight down along the right side of his face.
So now, :O keep adding airbrushed highlight on the right side of each bump on the right side of the croissant.
Then, highlight along the defining lines. Oop- you thought they were gonna be left out? Absolutely not, people.
Then that’s it. If you made it this far, congratulations! Croissant cat needed a partner for his pastry making journey and we’re honored to have you as a part of it <3.
